“Red Passion” by Paul Dove, Limited Print, Signed and Numbered 7/100
This piece is one of our favorites, with a beautifully colored 17.5”x22” print, professionally mounted and double-matted behind non-reflective glass, in a 28” x 31.5” frame. This vibrant piece depicts the 42nd (1958) Targa Florio, with Wolfgang von Trips in his #102 Ferrari 250TR pulling away from Stirling Moss in the #100 Aston Martin DBR1 on his way to a 3rd place finish, with what appears to be the #68 Porsche 718 RSK of Jean Behra (that would ultimately finish ahead of Von Trips) in the background. This race was a great result for Ferrari TRs, with the 3 cars fielded by Scuderia Ferrari that finished the race placing 1st, 3rd, and 4th.
Pictures don’t seem to do justice to the explosive use of color here - it has an almost Kinkade-like effect, and really must be seen in person to be appreciated. A great conversation piece that draws your attention the moment you enter the room where it is displayed.
